Dear KPHS All Sports Booster Club Families,
This is one of the hardest messages we’ve ever had to share.
We recently discovered fraudulent activity within our Booster Club checking account, and a significant amount was removed from our bank account through unauthorized transactions in the 2024-2025 school year. This situation has left us shocked and heartbroken.
We know how much time, effort, and generosity our families give to support our students. You’ve trusted us to be good stewards of those contributions, and we are devastated that this trust was broken. We feel that loss deeply—not just as Booster Club members, but as fellow parents.
As soon as we became aware of financial irregularities, we immediately contacted law enforcement, and a formal investigation was launched. That investigation is ongoing, and while we are committed to full transparency, there are details we cannot yet share in order to protect the integrity of the process. We are, however, pursuing every legal avenue to seek accountability and recover the misused funds.
While one individual carried out this alleged misconduct, we recognize that our oversight systems failed to detect it. Financial reports had been shared with the general membership, but we have since learned that those records were deliberately falsified. We take full responsibility for not having the checks and balances in place, which could have caught this sooner, and we are correcting that now.
Here’s what we’re doing immediately:
● Conducting a full independent audit of all Booster Club finances
● Implementing updated financial controls, including dual authorization for all
transactions
● Establishing oversight procedures to verify the accuracy and integrity of all
financial reporting shared with our community
To continue this effort toward openness and accountability, this is an opportunity to share what we can and outline the steps being taken to restore trust and prevent future issues. While there are limits to what we can disclose due to the active investigation, we believe it's important to face this together as a community.
Please note that the Booster Club operates independently of the school district. While we work closely with school staff to support student programs, our finances and governance are managed by parent volunteers. We are keeping school administrators informed as this situation unfolds.
Thank you for standing with us during this difficult time. Our students remain at the heart of everything we do, and we are committed to ensuring that the Booster Club remains a trustworthy and effective source of support for them.
